Dear valued customers,
Updated May 13, 2018
I am delighted to announce that I will be joining the Toronto Symphony Orchestra as their new Second Oboist starting next season.
Unfortunately after a year of making reeds for oboists across Canada, I will be closing HLR down to refocus on my performing and teaching career. Although I will no longer make reeds commercially for the general public, I will continue to make reeds for my students in the future.
If you would like to get in touch or inquire about lessons, please feel free to reach me.
Thank you so much for your support over the past year.
Hugo Lee is Second Oboist of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree from The Juilliard School from the studio of Elaine Douvas. Born and raised in Richmond Hill, Ontario, Hugo began his studies under the guidance of Wendy Bornstein, followed by TSO Associate Principal Oboist Keith Atkinson.
Prior to the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Hugo has performed as a soloist in New York City and across Canada. He has appeared as a soloist for the National Youth Orchestra of Canada, the Juilliard Orchestra and the New Juilliard Ensemble with performances reviewed under the New York Times, Musical Toronto and the New York Classical Review. He has also performed as a chamber musician for Jeunesses Musicales Canada, along with cellist Cameron Crozman and pianist Philip Chiu, embarking on a 13-concert tour across Eastern Canada to critical acclaim.
Hugo is passionate about teaching and has formerly been a sought-after reedmaker for students across the country. In his spare time he enjoys tinkering with technology and drinking lots of coffee.
